I am an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine, medical director and an investigator in the AIDS Clinical Trial Unit at Washington University.
Besides working as an Infectious Diseases attending in Washington University School of Medicine, I am involved in clinical trials evaluating new therapies for HIV infection. My research interests include antiretroviral therapy, treatment of virologic failures, simplification strategies as well studying the metabolic complications associated with antiretroviral treatment. Currently I am trying to build a clinical care and research unit for HIV/AIDS patients in Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic.
I am the primary care provider for more than 200 patients living with HIV.
I was born in Barcelona (Spain) and I received my medical degree from the University Autónoma of Madrid (Spain), where I completed my residency in Internal Medicine. Then I completed an Infectious Diseases fellowship at Washington University where I work as an Assistant Profesor of Medicine.
Support for my research is provided by the National Institutes of Health, the Campbell Foundation, and several Pharmaceutical companies.
