Research Activities:

• HIV Care of Women: Areas of interest include HIV medication adherence, health outcomes, effect of sex hormones on HIV replication, and methods to improve access to and retention in primary and subspecialty HIV care.

• Community-Acquired Pneumonia (CAP): Focused interests include: 1) early mobilization of hospitalized patients to improve short and long-term outcomes, 2) determination of the role of diagnostic tests in the routine care of hospitalized adults and, 3) tailored outpatient interventions to optimize return to functional health status.

• Vancomycin-resistant Enterococci: Areas of investigation include: 1) the role of enteric carriage in the development of clinical disease, 2) development of effective surveillance methods for special populations, 3) effective infection control measures to decrease nosocomial transmission.
