As the Hospital Epidemiologist for Barnes-Jewish Hospital, I am most interested in the epidemiology of nosocomial infections. Currently, our investigations include identifying risk factors for and strategies to prevent acquisition of infections in bone marrow transplant patients, vancomycin resistant enterococcal infections, and evaluation of risk factors for surgical wound infections particularly following neurosurgical  and cardiothoracic procedures.  I am also interested in the epidemiology and therapy of viral hepatitis.
